Vasco MartinsLi Sin (meaning right here in cape verdean creole) is the name of Vasco Martins's latest album. Ten tracks inspired from the desert : desert of Cape Verdean land, volcanic desert with an Atlantic blue line. The instrumentation is zen, held back, minimal - a strings quartet and an acoustic guitar (Vasco Martins's old friend, a guitar bitten by the island sea and the numerous moons and winds) A morna atmosphere with andalusian hints, a 6/8 rythm recalling batuku and Sanjon, a simple solo guitar without a reference except the evocation to the wind and desert! Intimous compositions, music in the moon shadow. Uviterramariceu (1 &2) (meaning "listen to the sea and sky "in Cape Verdean creole) was originally composed for a string quartet and a piano and appears on this album in a totally improvised guitar version.
